Welcome to Czechia. Czechia is a country in Central Europe that is known for its beautiful capital, Prague, as well as its long history, and great food.
These stats were collected through general studies by prominent institutions that analyzed Czechia's tourism sector. They represent Czechia as a whole, not certain parts of the country that are either better or worse-off. These studies were then summarized into a given rating.
Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic.
The Czech Republic was founded as the Duchy of Bohemia in the 9th century. The House of Luxembourg gained the Bohemian throne in the 13th century. Czechia also faced increasing pressure from the east, when the Mongol Empire conquered Eastern Europe, although it never managed to capture Czechia. In the 17th and 18th centuries, increasing pressure was put on the Bohemian Government due to the emergence of multiple deadly pandemics from Austria. After the collapse of the Habsburg Monarchy in Austria, Czechia unified with Slovakia. During World War Two, Czechia was occupied by Germany, although it was liberated with the help of the Soviet army on the Eastern Front. After this, Czechoslovakia adopted communism, joined the Warsaw Pact, and became an ally of the Soviet Union. Czechia returned to a democratic government after the Velvet Revolution of 1989.
